Raid Leader Rant: But I don’t want to get saved to help!
It’s been a while since I posted my last RLR, why? Well mainly because folks have been pretty good up till xmas, then xmas, and now the raids have gathered momentum a bit more and low and behold, the grumpy ole Cybac is back in town. So what’s the grumpy RL moaning about this time? People who complain or refuse to get saved to an already started GUILD raid. Now let me get the details clear, I’m not asking people to join a pug and get saved, it’s a GUILD run, I’m not asking because I want to, I’m asking because I need the help, because the team and ultimately the GUILD needs the help. Why am I putting GUILD in capitals all the time? Simply to make the point that the needs of the many (GUILD!) outweigh the needs of the one. If killing one more progression boss puts us 4-5 spots higher on our servers faction ranks then I really do expect people to make ALL the resources they have in the guild available for use. Incoming rant so if you have delicate sensibilities stop reading and go back to your dolls….. So if you’ve ever had members with an alt or who can fill a role in a raid that you currently have running and they have received loot from a guild run at ANY time then your quite within your right to expect them to get off their backsides and offer help or at least not to complain when asked to get that character / spec and join the raid. Why? Quite simply it’s because by being part of the guild and taking the benefits that come with it they are agreeing to work as a team and that means putting yourself out sometimes and putting your guild before yourself on occasion. What I can firmly say is DON’T expect me to help you out by inviting you to top level raiding content where you will get top level gear if you cant be bothered to help me from time to time. So what if it means you miss the first 2 bosses, I really don’t care, what I do care about is the fact that your going to accept loot and help on that character and not be willing to put the time back in. Now that applies PER PERSON not per character, I don’t care if you have 1 or 50 alts in the guild, if we need you to bring one and your expecting to get any help from us an ANY characters then I really do expect you to be dedicated to the guild enough to volunteer. So next time I ask for help in guild, no matter if you believe it’s not your job to support your guildies, believe me it IS and how high you stand on the invite list depends on how helpful you are. Scratch my back and I will scratch yours. If your not willing to commit all your resources in terms of alts and mains to the guild cause ffs take them OUT of guild because they are just a drain on our resources and quite frankly it’s not fair on the rest of the team. That goes for people who expect the guild to kit out 4-5-6-7-8 alts as well. No point taking loot on your Alt then moaning your not playing your main or vice versus. You want help on them all, then they are ALL fair game for the guild to expect to step up and work for us. So what’s my point? If you expect my help I expect yours, 100% of it and if you cant give it then don’t bother asking me for anything, including a raid spot, simple. /rant off P.S: Thanks for Brucilla for this topic, he reminded me of some issues and it got my brain boiling to the point where I had to write a RLR. |
